Good morning, this is Saul Reisman here at saul’s automotive
Today, we are going to talk about a little bit more about Toyota vehicles and how their cross-branding helps not only save you money but to keep you in a more reliable car.
We often hear cross-branding in terms of one manufacture making multiple different brands with the same name in the case of Toyota, Scion and Lexus are all Toyota products yet are delineated as different brand names for different markets in the united states. One thing that we often look at that the consumer may not see directly, is the way cross-branding affects you even in different makes and models that you never thought were together.
In the case of this 2003 Pontiac Vibe, this vehicle was branded by Pontiac which a division of general motors as in Chevrolet out of Detroit and the body and the exterior does tell us that.
However when we get under the hood that is a Toyota 1ZZ-FE Engine inside it because Toyota partnered with General Motors in an attempt their vehicle sold internationally and in an attempt for general motors to get their product sold internationally.
They made a partnership that allowed General Motors to use Toyota motor and transmission which is incredibly reliable efficient and lightweight in a some of this Pontiac motor vehicle that allowed General Motors to sold this Pontiac knowing that the consumer is going to have a significantly more reliable and more dependable car in the long run. At the same time, still give them a chevy, general motors or Pontiac badging that they were desiring as an American motor vehicle.
On the counterpart of it over in Japan, Toyota sold several Toyota Corollas with general motors source engine with them for the exact same perspective so that the consumer that wanted the American made car, the American made part could have that but still have a Japanese vehicle that could still be sold in there shores.
This is been going on for decades and is something that is actually helping in the research and development in a lot of safety and efficiency systems of motor vehicles.
A lot of the time, owner’s get concerned when they hear of this. You might call in about your Lamborghini Gallardo that needs an oil change and might be disappointed to know that you use the same oil filter as a Volkswagen Jetta that we buy for three dollars of the shelves, not the fifty-five dollar filter that Lamborghini sell to you.
Now the reason that this is important is that you have a choice when it comes to your vehicle getting repaired and you have a choice what do you pay for your parts in that same perspective. If you were to take your Lexus vehicle to a Lexus dealership you are going to be coded for Lexus part. If you are going to take your Lexus vehicle to a Toyota or Scion dealership you’re going to be coded for the Lexus part even though it’s same Toyota part markup for that client and tell for that demographic and for that sale.
Here at Saul’s Automotive because we do our research and know where are these motors, where are these sources, or where are these parts are all come from. We searched directly from the manufacturer.
So if you bring us your Lexus model vehicle in for repair, we are going to find the correct part of it from the Lexus listing cross-branded from a Toyota listing and make sure that you have the choice of whether or not you want a Lexus plate on that Toyota part or rather you want a Toyota nameplate on that Toyota part at a substantially reduced cost.
This gives you a true dealer alternative option for your domestic and import car repair across Denver and Englewood Colorado.
If you were otherwise going to a different dealership and be told this dollar value, you can always take those clothes and put them in a perspective using the exact same components.
We often hear complaints about differences between shop prices regarding aftermarket parts versus dealer parts and this is something very specific were a dealership may try to stir you and say “hey your independent shop it’s all going to use an aftermarket part or only going to use a replacement part”.
This is simply not the case. YOU as the consumer have the choice of what parts are provided in your vehicle.
The Colorado vehicle repair act 1992 specifically states that you must dictate what parts to use and that us an auto repair shop must inform you on our estimate and in an invoice with the exact branding of those components so that you know you were given that proper parts and not some counterfeit or aftermarket replacement.
If you got concerns about yours, you’ve looked at something that cross-branding that trying to find a less expensive vehicle or even just have a luxury vehicle and you are looking for a more cost-effective option in a dealer, give us call here at Saul’s Automotive 303-919-7769, your true dealer alternative.
