In Colorado, in the early days of vehicle registration, we had two letters for a county number, four digits for a vehicle number cuz there was less 10,000 vehicles per county to register.
This 1965 original plate was on this vehicle at the time that it came in for service. Now, unfortunately, it won’t be able to go out on it for street use, but it’s a great collector item to have for a 51-year-old vehicle. If you wanna know really how old these cars are, we’re gonna take a little bit better look at this dashboard. Not only do we have chrome gauges, actual metal monikers, and nameplates across. Every button, every knob turns, twists, push, pulls in multiple functions.
Unlike modern vehicles, where each portion of the dash is a separate component that can be bolted in, bolted out, one piece at a time. This is a one piece assembly, and to service any of it means removing the majority of the dashboard. In the case of this vehicle, if you really wanna know how old it is, in 1967 motor vehicles only had AM radio. While you come in and complain to us that you want an auxiliary port, an iPod hook up, six CDs, an MP3 player, and subwoofers in the back. This gentleman brought us an upgrade, and instead of his original 1965 AM radio, we replaced it with a 1967 version. Which was the first year, with factory production AM and FM band frequencies in the vehicle.
This way, the owner can have a little bit better-updated technology, he can listen to the tunes that he wants to, but he can still keep all the original aspects of his 50-year-old car. The original radio that we pulled out of the vehicle works in perfect, flawless condition. We opened it up to inspect its internal windings, it literally was just dusty. We took the old one back for salvage so that the owner can maintain his numbers to numbers collection and ensure that he has all the original components for his car, but at the same time, can still enjoy his 51-year-old classic car with a little bit better technology.
If you want to update your classic Ford Car, if you just simply want to get a little bit better sound out of yours, or have any concerns regarding your dashboard, your electronics, or the pieces and parts of your vehicle that many auto repair shops don’t want to deal with.
